PAX Mini Review – Is Pax Mini Worth it?

Do you like smoking dry herbs on the go? Well, this is the whole concept behind the Pax Mini Vaporizer. Pax Labs saw the need in the market for a vaporizer that is small, easy to use, and lasts long, so it developed the Pax Mini Vaporizer.

From the features mentioned on the official website, I never purchased it as a substitute for my Pax 3 or Pax Plus Vaporizer. In this review, I will explain what unique value the Pax Mini Vaporizer brings to the table. It is a pretty decent device, so keep reading to understand what you are missing.

PAX Mini Review – Is Pax Mini Worth it?

DaVinci Vaporizer has now launched the all new IQ3 Vaporizer.

The Pax Mini Vaporizer fit perfectly in my palm when I unboxed and held it. The feel was smooth and premium. It was surely one of the smallest dry herb vaporizers I had purchased. I ordered my Pax Mini Vaporizer in silver because I already have an onyx Pax Plus Vaporizer. Moreover, I found the following accessories inside the box:

  1. Flat & Raised Mouthpieces
  2. Oven Lid
  3. Wire Brush
  4. USB Cable

The set of accessories is very limited, and you cannot opt for a complete kit like the Pax Plus Vaporizer.

Pros

  1. Small for portable use
  2. It has a decent body with a trademark ‘X’ indicator
  3. 3D oven lid and magnetic mouthpiece for easy loading and cleaning
  4. Easy to use with a single button
  5. No temperature settings to adjust
  6. Draw activated heating system with a short preheat time
  7. Impressive battery life

Cons

  1. No temperature settings at all
  2. The charging time could have been shorter
  3. Only compatible with dry herbs
  4. No lip-sensing technology

Price & Value

The Pax Mini Vaporizer is available on the official website for $125. The price is lower than other products in the product line and a lot lower than brands like DaVinci Tech & Storz and Bickel. The Pax Mini Vaporizer is a simple dry herb device that does not come with a complete kit to make it compatible with concentrates.

The low price does not mean that the Pax Mini Vaporizer is a substandard product. It has a decent heating system that cooks fast and a potent battery that lasts long. Moreover, you can spend an additional $15 to personalize your Pax Mini Vaporizer by engraving your name on its body.

Design & Build Quality

The Pax Mini Vaporizer comes in a very compact build of 3.7 inches. It is a portable device that you can conceal inside your palm to escape everyone’s eyes while vaping. The body is smooth and comfortable to hold. You can easily control the device by checking the ‘X’ indicator. It has a button integrated into the mouthpiece to turn the heating system on and off. The heating chamber is entirely metallic, with a 3D oven screen for easier and deeper cleaning.

Vaping Performance

I did not find the Pax Mini Vaporizer’s vaping performance as impressive as its counterparts. The preheat time at the start of the session is 22 seconds, which is considered short for a portable device. The heating chamber capacity is suitable only for microdosing because you can only load 0.25 grams of dry herbs in it.

The oven is metallic, while the heating method is entirely conduction-based. When I vaped continuously to check the battery performance, the metallic oven impaired the flavor. The Pax Mini Vaporizer is not made for long smoking sessions. Moreover, the heating system is draw-activated. I loved the convenience of not having to change the temperature settings manually.

Battery Life & Charging

The Pax Mini Vaporizer boasts a 3000 mAh battery that provides a backup of 2 hours per charging cycle. The battery life translates to 8 or 10 sessions per cycle. It is astounding how the manufacturer managed to retain the battery capacity despite reducing the size.

The charging stats are not as good as the Pax Plus Vaporizer. Even though the Pax Mini Vaporizer has the same magnetic charging dock at its back, the recharge time is as long as 2.5 hours. The battery life to charging time ratio is not as impressive as I would have liked. In my opinion, USB-C was a far better option than the magnetic charging port.

Ease Of Use

The Pax Mini Vaporizer has a pretty simple operating procedure. It has a single button integrated into the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece button needs a single press to start the heating cycle. The precise and preset settings are absent, if you are wondering.

Firing the Pax Mini Vaporizer is easy. Grind your favorite herb and fill the heating chamber. Once the oven is tightly packed, put on the magnetic mouthpiece that snugs in perfectly. Quick press the mouthpiece button to start the heating process. Upon the ‘X’ indicator getting green, you can make a draw.

The draw-activated heating system is very convenient to use. Moreover, the 3D oven screen makes loading, unloading, and cleaning easy. It does not require excessive scratching to get the residue off.

Customization Option

The customization options are really limited. I would never recommend purchasing the Pax Mini Vaporizer if you demand customized usage. It is only compatible with dry herbs. You cannot smoke concentrates and extracts with the Pax Mini Vaporizer.

This device does not have any temperature setting at all. The absence of temperature settings really limits your ability to dictate the way you smoke. The Pax Mini Vaporizer is not compatible with glass bongs and water pipes.

However, Pax Labs charges you an extra $15 to personalize your Pax Mini Vaporizer. Having your name on the device gives you a sense of ownership. In short, you can only customize the body of your vaporizer.

Safety Features

The Pax Mini Vaporizer does not have the advanced safety protocols that you would expect from a product manufactured by a renowned brand. It does not have haptic feedback or an automatic shutoff timer to keep you updated regarding the heating cycle. Moreover, the metallic components take time to cool down.

Cleaning the oven right after the smoking session is important as the residue might get sticky afterward. Residue in the heating chamber means contamination. However, the magnetic oven lid keeps the oven sealed during smoking sessions to prevent direct contamination of dry herbs. The 2-year warranty period keeps you financially safe.

Final Verdict: Is It Worth Buying?

The Pax Mini Vaporizer did not feel suitable for me because it had several shortcomings. The heating system is not as advanced as the Pax Plus Vaporizer or products from other popular brands. It has no precise or preset temperature settings, so you have to fire the vaporizer and enjoy vapors at a standard temperature intensity.

It is ideal for newbies who do not know much about the intensities or people preferring convenient smoking sessions. The portability of the Pax Mini Vaporizer is applaudable because it has a 3.7-inch size but the charging time spoiled the fun for me here. The Pax Mini Vaporizer is a decent, budget-friendly device that meets the basic vaping requirements. However, it cannot satisfy high-end vaping needs.
