PAX Plus Review – Pax Plus concentrate review

The Pax Plus Vaporizer is the most recent product launched by Pax Labs. The company is known for its compact devices, and this device is no exception. It is a premium-looking vaporizer with a compact size.

I have read a lot about its simple temperature controls and flavorful vapors. It carries the same lip-sending technology as the Pax 3. Its efficient heating system prepares the vapors in no time.

I love using vaporizers produced by Pax Labs, so I have decided to review the Pax Plus Vaporizer. This device has earned its share in the vaping market, but is it the ultimate solution to your smoking needs?

To answer this question, many aspects need consideration instead of reading the list of specs and features.

In this Pax Plus review, I will explain every minor feature I have encountered or missed while using the Pax Plus Vaporizer.

The Pax Plus Vaporizer looks like a premium device, but the company should have done the basics better. The charging port should have been USB-C for a shorter charging time. The lack of mobile control takes precise temperature settings out of the equation.

Despite these shortcomings, the Pax Plus Vaporizer is a highly portable device with a classy finish. These features make it the most demanded product in the corporate world. It supports microdosing with a high oven lid. The vapor quality is great, and the temperature settings are easy to set.

The Pax Plus Vaporizer is a near-to-ideal dry herb device with the best temperature range. However, I do not recommend using it for concentrates and waxes. They create a lot of mess, and the temperature is not that high. It is one of the best devices available for aromatherapy.

I recommend using the Pax Plus Vaporizer for on-the-go smoking sessions and simple vaping routines. It will not provide much control over the temperature settings, but it is still worth a try.

Pros

  1. It is an ideal choice for flavor chasers.
  2. It is a dual-purpose device that supports both dry herbs and concentrates.
  3. The compact size and stylish design make it an anywhere-to-use device.
  4. Vapor production is nearly on-demand.
  5. The half-oven lid is ideal for microdosing.
  6. The temperature settings are easy to change and lock.
  7. Its lip-sensing technology knows when to generate vapors.
  8. It has a considerably long battery life.
  9. The warranty period is long enough to cover malfunctions.

Cons

  1. It lacks precise temperature settings.
  2. The absence of mobile app connectivity is troublesome initially.
  3. It has no strong temperature to cook concentrates.

Durable, compact, and decent body

The Pax Plus Vaporizer is a magician hat enclosed inside a premium aluminum outer. It is a decent and classy device that you can use at a party or in a corporate environment. The body is entirely metallic, with flower-shaped indicators on the face.

The mouthpiece is the only non-metallic component made of silicone. Silicone is more heat-resistant than aluminum, so your lips are safe while inhaling hot vapors.

This device is incredibly compact, like any other product developed by the Pax Lab. It is less than four (3.85) inches tall and 1.22 inches wide. These dimensions make the Pax Plus Vaporizer easier to hold.

You can hide it in your palm for secret smoking sessions. The edges are rounded and smooth to enable a comfortable grip. The finish makes it attractive, and I consider it a perfectly unisex device that looks decent for any gender.

You can purchase the Pax Plus Vaporizer in sage, periwinkle, elderberry, and onyx colors. The overall composition of the device is simple. It has an oven at the bottom and a mouthpiece at the top. The main components of the device are:

  1. Silicone mouthpiece on the top,
  2. Metallic chamber at the bottom,
  3. The main body (containing the main heating system), and
  4. Flower LED indicators.

Premium accessories

Multi-tool (new)

The multi-tool is a new addition to the accessory list because users tend to have issues while cleaning the heating chamber. This tool can be used to scrape off the residue and pack herbs in the chamber.

Concentrate insert

The concentrate insert has a metallic chamber for efficient dissipation of heat. I do not like the insert because it is vulnerable to mess creation. It is better to use the Pax Plus Vaporizer for dry herb smoking only.

Half-pack oven lid

The half-pack oven lid allows you to microdose using the Pax Plus Vaporizer. It packs small amounts of dry herbs tightly for better vapor density.

Oven screen

The oven screen is 3D, which is better than the ordinary ones. It is easy to remove for convenient cleaning. I love the maximum airflow due to the holes on its edges.

Accommodating metallic chamber

Dry herbs

The Pax Plus Vaporizer heating chamber is positioned at the bottom, similar to the DaVinci devices. The chamber has a magnetic connection that prevents spillage and keeps the vapors pure. The oven is made of stainless steel, which is a substandard component (considering its vulnerability to combustion). It has a 0.5 grams capacity.

Using the half oven lid, you can reduce the chamber capacity to half (0.25 grams). It enables you to enjoy microdosing sessions because it can pack dry herbs firmly. The vapors are prepared in 20 to 30 seconds because the chamber is heated using conduction technology.

Concentrates

The company provides concentrate inserts for efficient extraction of smoking. The chamber integrated inside the insert is made of stainless steel for efficient heating. The lid and o-ring fit fell to prevent the extracts from leakage.

Despite providing a separate oven for extract, I do not recommend using the Pax Plus Vaporizer for concentrates. It creates a lot of mess. You must clean the chamber after each extract smoking session because the residue can impair the vapor quality.

Preset temperature settings

The Pax Plus Vaporizer lacks precision controls, so do not bother demanding entire control over the temperature settings. It has preset intensities that you can select conveniently by pressing the mouthpiece.

Just turn on the device and long-press the mouthpiece for two seconds. Short press the mouthpiece to toggle the temperature and long press again to select. The preset temperature intensities are as follows:

  1. Stealth mode (182 degrees Celsius) – This mode produces the least vapors (a light temperature intensity for new smokers). This intensity lights up a single petal indicator with a purple color. The light is dimmed, and the haptic feedback becomes less prominent.
  2. Efficiency mode (193 degrees Celsius) – It heats the material efficiency, as you can extract more hits per gram of material. This intensity lights up two petals with a green/turquoise color.
  3. Flavor mode (204 degrees Celsius) – This mode is flavor-oriented. The balance is impeccable, with a solid taste and decent vapor density. It lights three petals in yellow/green color.
  4. Boost mode (215 degrees Celsius) – It produces hot vapors with intense vapor density. The company says it is tailor-made for concentrate smoking, but I find it insufficient for anything other than dry herbs. It lights all four petals with an orange/red color.

Lip sensing technology and accelerometer

The lip-sensing technology is the core of the Pax Plus Vaporizer. It senses when a user places the mouthpiece between the lips. This technology helps adjust the temperature at the final moment to provide you with accurately heated vapors. I like the luxury of pulling out my Pax Plus Vaporizer and drawing without a press of a button.

Convenient controls and advanced technology

Loading the chamber

Loading the dry herbs inside the heating chamber is straightforward. The chamber is located at the bottom of the Pax Plus Vaporizer. Open its magnetic lid and fill it with dry herbs. Ensure the dry herb is packed tightly inside the chamber. Use the multi-tool to pack dry herbs thoroughly.

Single button usage

Press and hold the mouthpiece on top to turn the device on. The Pax Plus Vaporizer seems buttonless, but the mouthpiece works like the control button. Once turned on, wait for the flower LED indicators to light up. The device will start heating at the prevailing temperature setting.

Long press the mouthpiece for two seconds to enter the temperature settings. Click the mouthpiece to toggle between the four preset temperature modes. Long press the mouthpiece to select a specific temperature. The device will vibrate when the set temperature is reached. Make a draw immediately after the vapors are prepared.

Standby and shut off mode

When the Pax Plus Vaporizer is left turned on, it goes into the standby after one minute of inactivity. The heater is turned off in the standby mode to preserve the battery. If the device remains inactive for an additional two minutes, the device shuts off.

Other important features

The Pax Plus Vaporizer indicates the remaining battery when it is shaken. It has haptic feedback technology that tells you the status. The company did not integrate the device with mobile app connectivity, which is a big miss.

Handling could have been a lot easier, and Pax Lab could have had the room to add precise temperature settings if the Pax Plus Vaporizer had mobile app connectivity.

Cleaning and maintenance

Cleaning the Pax Plus Vaporizer can be tricky, as the aluminum chamber is vulnerable to stains. I suggest cleaning the chamber every day to prevent residue from sticking. Moreover, a slightly warm oven is easier to clean than a cold one.

Empty the chamber before cleaning it thoroughly. Clean the oven lid with alcohol wipes. Use the multi-tool to scrape the residue from the chamber walls, and use the brush when the residue is scraped. Never leave your Pax Plus Vaporizer oven dirty overnight.

Small but capable battery

Like any other Pax Lab device, the Pax Plus Vaporizer has an impressive 3500 mAh battery integrated into such a small body. It provides 2.5 hours of running time that allows you to enjoy 8 to 10 smoking sessions.

You can see the remaining battery life by shaking the device. I found it very convenient due to button-free monitoring. The petals light up with a white color to show the remaining charge. Each petal depicts a 25 percent charge.

Magnetic charging technology

The Pax Plus Vaporizer is integrated with a magnetic charging technology for convenient connection. It is not prone to loose connections, but I would have liked the USB-C connection because it is faster. It takes around two to three hours to charge. The magnetic connectors are placed on the back of the device.

Long warranty period

Pax Lab trusts the quality of the Pax Plus Vaporizer, so it accompanies the device with a ten-year warranty contract. The warranty period is sufficiently long to cover malfunctions and quality-related issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Pax Plus better than Pax Mini?

As the name suggests, the Pax Mini is a simplified version of the Pax Plus Vaporizer. It is smaller in size and houses a smaller chamber. The Pax Mini has one optimized session mode, but the Pax Plus is integrated with four experienced modes (presets).

Another small yet important difference is the absence of haptic feedback in the Pax Mini. The Pax Mini has only a two-year warranty cover compared to the ten years of the Pax Plus.

Is Pax Plus better than Pax 3?

The Pax Plus has only four experience modes, but the Pax 3 contains precise temperature settings (accessible via mobile app) and on-device experience modes. The Pax 3 (Read Pax 3 Review) has a shorter charging time, mobile app connectivity, and a longer battery life. Moreover, it is cheaper than the Pax Plus.

How portable is the Pax Plus Vaporizer?

The Pax Plus Vaporizer is extremely portable. It has a small size that fits inside the pocket and in the palm. It contains no glass or ceramic components that would break. The aluminum body is quite strong. I love the sufficient battery life for a long trip. However, it disappoints when considering the charging time. It is unbearably long.

How to conveniently clean the chamber?

Cleaning the Pax Plus Vaporizer is tricky. Make sure that the chamber is a bit warm before you start cleaning. The multi-tool and wire brush help with the cleaning process. The multi-tool helps with scrapping the hard residue while the wire brush handles the rest.

Does Pax Plus have precise temperature controls?

The Pax Plus Vaporizer has no precise temperature settings because it lacks mobile app connectivity.

Why does the Pax Plus charge slowly?

The Pax Plus Vaporizer charges slowly because it is integrated with a magnetic connector instead of a USB-C port.

How do I use the Pax Plus Vaporizer?

The Pax Plus Vaporizer looks like a button-less device, but the mouthpiece operates like one. It lacks mobile app connectivity, so you should rely on the physical controls.

Conclusion

The Pax Plus Vaporizer looks like a premium device, but the company should have done the basics better. The charging port should have been USB-C for a shorter charging time. The lack of mobile control takes precise temperature settings out of the equation.

Despite these shortcomings, the Pax Plus Vaporizer is a highly portable device with a classy finish. These features make it the most demanded product in the corporate world. It supports microdosing with a high oven lid. The vapor quality is great, and the temperature settings are easy to set.
