The Mighty+ has been around for a while now, but there really isn’t much wrong with the actual vaporizer. It still has excellent vapor quality, a pretty free-flowing draw, good battery life and one of the easiest heating systems to use. Load the chamber, pick a temperature and wait for it to vibrate. That’s pretty much it.
The size is probably my biggest complaint with the Mighty+. It weighs around half a pound and takes up quite a bit of room in the pocket, so I would plan on carrying this one in a backpack or bag. You do get two internal batteries and a bigger cooling unit though, and overall I think the Mighty+ works better as a portable you use around the house or take with you when size isn’t a huge deal.
The only thing making the Mighty+ harder to recommend these days is the price. It still retails for $399, while the newer Venty is $449. For another $50, I would get the Venty. It heats up much faster, has a more powerful heater and the adjustable airflow goes all the way up to 20 liters per minute.
That doesn’t mean I would stop buying the Mighty+. It’s been around since 2021, replacement parts are easy to find and there’s a lot more long-term ownership history behind it now. The price just needs to make sense. If I can find the Mighty+ for $100 or more below the Venty, I would have no problem going with the older model instead.
There isn’t much in the Mighty+ box anymore. You get the USB-C cable, one dosing capsule, three normal screens, three coarse screens, three base seal rings and a cleaning brush. There’s no wall charger, so you’ll need one of your own.
I would probably pick up the eight-capsule magazine if you end up liking the included dosing capsule. You can load all eight at home and swap them in and out of the Mighty+ as you need them. The capsules are also cheap enough that having a bunch of them around isn’t a big investment.
Storz & Bickel sells pretty much every little wear part for the Mighty+ separately. You can buy another cooling unit, mouthpiece, screens, seals, chamber tools and dosing capsules without replacing anything that still works. I like that with an older vaporizer because five years from now I would be more worried about finding a $10 part than finding another accessory to add to it.
Design and Controls
The Mighty+ is an old-school design at this point, but I still like how simple everything is. You get a screen right on the front with your set temperature, actual temperature and battery level, plus separate buttons for changing the temperature. Hold the two temperature buttons together and you can switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
The ribbed plastic body isn’t fancy, but it gives you plenty to grab onto and the cooling unit locks onto the top with a twist. The mouthpiece folds into the cooling unit when you put the Mighty+ away. There really isn’t much going on here that you need to figure out.
The bottom of the Mighty+ is the weird part. Storz & Bickel added small feet when it updated the original Mighty, but they still don’t give you the nice flat base I would want when loading the chamber. The filling chamber tool slots into the bottom and helps it stand up, but I would rather the vaporizer just stand properly on its own.
Heating and Temperature Control
The Mighty+ uses a hybrid heater with both conduction and convection. The chamber stays hot the whole time, so your herbs keep cooking between draws. I like to sit down and finish the bowl once I get the Mighty+ going.
Temperature runs from 104°F to 410°F and you can change it one degree at a time from the buttons on the Mighty+. You can start wherever you want and move the temperature around during the session. There are no temperature presets you have to work around.
Heat-up is one place where the Mighty+ is starting to show its age. Around 60 seconds was a nice improvement over the original Mighty, but newer Storz & Bickel portables are quicker. Once it reaches temperature, I care a lot more about how well the heater keeps up with the session than the extra wait at the beginning.
Vapor Quality, Extraction and Airflow
The Mighty+ still puts out some really good vapor. The first few draws have the best flavor, and then it starts getting a little more roasted as you work through the bowl. The cooling unit does a good job too, and I can push the temperature up without the vapor getting too hot.
I like that you can pretty much leave the bowl alone once the Mighty+ gets going. There’s usually no need to stop halfway through and stir the herbs. I would just keep taking draws and turn the temperature up a little once the vapor starts thinning out.
The draw is fairly open, and you don’t need to work very hard to get vapor from it. Packing the chamber too tightly does make it noticeably more restrictive, though. I would keep the load fairly loose and let the hot air move through it.
Chamber and Loading
The Mighty+ has a pretty big chamber for a portable, and I prefer using it with a full load. Grind your herbs, fill the chamber to the top and don’t pack everything down hard. You want some air moving through there.
One thing I like about the Mighty+ is that the bowl is easy to get to. Twist off the cooling unit and the chamber is sitting right there, so loading and emptying it doesn’t take much work. The Filling Aid is handy if you use loose herbs a lot, but you don’t need it.
Partial loads work better with the dosing capsules. You can put a smaller amount in a capsule instead of trying to spread a little bit of herb around that big chamber. I would use them for smaller bowls and load the chamber directly when I want a full session.
Battery Life and Charging
The Mighty+ has two internal batteries and you can’t swap them out. When the battery gets low, you have to plug the whole vaporizer in and wait for it to charge. I would rather have replaceable batteries, especially on something I plan on keeping for years. I prefer replaceable batteries, but the Mighty+ gives you enough runtime that I don’t think about the charger after every couple of bowls.
USB-C was one of the better upgrades Storz & Bickel made when they moved from the original Mighty to the Mighty+. With a 45W USB-C PD charger, Storz & Bickel rates it for an 80% charge in about 40 minutes. You can still use the Mighty+ while it’s plugged in thanks to pass-through charging. It also works with a regular 45W USB-C PD charger, so you don’t need to buy the Storz & Bickel Supercharger. If you already have a compatible charger at home, I would just use that. Just use the charger you already have.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Most of the cleaning on the Mighty+ happens in the cooling unit. It comes apart into several pieces, and eventually you’ll get sticky residue around the screens, mouthpiece and inside the cooling unit. Once the draw starts feeling tighter than normal, it’s probably time to clean it.
I would give the chamber a quick brush after each bowl. It only takes a few seconds and gets all the loose herbs out before they start sticking around the screen. Dosing capsules keep the chamber a little cleaner, but you’ll still have to clean the cooling unit.
A deep clean takes a little more work because you have to pull the cooling unit apart. The screens and other appropriate removable parts can be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, then everything needs to be completely dry before it goes back together. It isn’t difficult, but there are quite a few little pieces to keep track of.
Reliability and Warranty
The Mighty+ has been around since 2021 and there are a lot of them out there now. I like that you can still buy all the little parts that wear out over time. Screens, seals, mouthpieces and even the whole cooling unit are easy to replace.
Storz & Bickel gives the Mighty+ a two-year warranty. Register it within four weeks of purchase and you get another year, so I would definitely take the few minutes to do that. You’ll also need to keep your proof of purchase if you ever have to make a warranty claim.
The batteries are a little different. They’re built into the Mighty+, so you can’t just buy another pair and swap them out when they eventually start getting tired. Storz & Bickel does offer paid repairs after the warranty is over, but I still wish the batteries were replaceable.
Mighty+ vs Other Vaporizers
The Crafty+ is basically the smaller option if you like what the Mighty+ does but don’t want to carry the Mighty+ around. The chamber and hybrid heating are very similar, and both are easy vaporizers to get along with. The Crafty+ is much easier to put in a pocket, but you give up quite a bit of battery life to get the smaller size.
The Venty is harder for the Mighty+ to deal with. It heats up in about 20 seconds, has adjustable airflow up to 20 liters per minute and gives you a lot more heater to work with. The Mighty+ is $399 and the Venty is $449. I would spend the extra $50 on the Venty.
The Veazy is the S&B I would look at if the Mighty+ is just too much vaporizer to carry around. It weighs 134 grams and costs $249, so it is quite a bit smaller and $150 cheaper. The battery doesn’t last as long, but I would be fine with that if I wasn’t trying to get through a bunch of bowls before charging.
I would go outside Storz & Bickel if I wanted quick hits instead of a full session. The Tinymight 2 heats on demand, and I like that you can swap the battery when it dies. Carry another charged cell and you don’t have to stop and plug the vaporizer in.
Price and Value
The Mighty+ is still expensive at $399. I like the vaporizer, but that price puts it in a weird spot now. The Venty is $449, and if I’m already spending $399, I would find the extra $50 and get the Venty.
I like the Mighty+ a lot more when it goes on sale. Get it down around $300 and I wouldn’t worry nearly as much about the slower heat-up or the older design. You still get excellent vapor, long battery life and a vaporizer that is really easy to use.
The Veazy is $249 and gives you another way to save some money. I would get the Veazy if I wanted something smaller, but I would take the Mighty+ for the extra battery life and larger cooling unit. The Mighty+ makes a lot more sense to me when there is enough money between it and the Venty.
Who Should Buy the Mighty+?
I would get the Mighty+ if most of my vaping was going to be full sessions. It’s easy to use, there isn’t much technique to learn and it works well without constantly messing with the bowl. Load it, pick a temperature and start taking draws when it’s ready.
The battery is another good reason to buy it. The Mighty+ is a big portable, but that extra size gives you enough battery for quite a bit of vaping between charges. I wouldn’t want it in my pocket all day, so I would plan on carrying it in a backpack.
I would go with the Crafty+ or Veazy if I wanted something smaller. Both are much easier to carry, and I don’t think the extra size of the Mighty+ makes much sense if you rarely need its longer battery life. The Mighty+ is the one I would pick when I expected to use it several times before getting back to a charger.
I would skip the Mighty+ if I wanted replaceable batteries or mostly took a few quick hits and put the vape away. The $399 price is harder for me to get past. The Venty is another $50, and I would spend the extra money on it. Get the Mighty+ down around $100 below the Venty and I like that deal a lot more.
Final Verdict
The Mighty+ is about as easy as a portable vaporizer gets. Load the chamber, set your temperature and wait for it to vibrate. You don’t need to worry much about how hard you pull or stop halfway through the bowl to stir the herbs. Once it’s hot, you can pretty much just sit back and vape.
There are newer portables that heat faster and give you more control, but the Mighty+ has been around long enough that I know what I’m getting with it. Cooling units, screens, seals and mouthpieces are easy to replace. I would prefer replaceable batteries, but I still think the Mighty+ is a pretty easy vaporizer to own.
I just wouldn’t pay $399 for one when the Venty is $449. For another $50, I would get the Venty. Put $100 or more between them and I would happily buy the Mighty+ instead.
