PAX Flow Vs PAX 4 – Side by Side Comparison

Pax Labs had introduced the Pax Flow Vaporizer for its loyal users in August of 2025. The product was groundbreaking due to its hybrid heating mechanism, USB-C charging type, and intelligent temperature modes. However, the manufacturer launched the Pax Four Vaporizer in a span of six months. Though it is considered a close competitor of the Pax Flow, the feature profile is a lot different.

The Pax Four and Pax Flow Vaporizers have the same features when it comes to the charging and heating mechanisms. However, Pax Labs reverted to the old chamber placement and design in the Pax Four Vaporizer. Switching the chamber location and tweaking the vapor path changes a lot of performance-related features.

This article will shed light on all these features and will help you select the product that is more value-adding for your smoking routine. Scroll through my detailed review explaining every possible aspect.

PAX Flow VS PAX 4 – What’s the Difference?

Design, Build Quality, and Portability

As we know, both devices come from the same manufacturer, and the overall design is almost similar. The Pax Flow and Pax Four Vaporizers are four inches tall and 1.5 inches wide. The body material is aluminum alloy to keep the devices durable and comfortable to hold. The airpath and chamber are made of stainless steel for faster heating and dissipation. The mouthpieces are made of silicone to enable effective insulation throughout the smoking sessions.

The Pax Flow Vaporizer is a bit chunkier with its 135-gram weight when compared to the 125-gram Pax Four Vaporizer. While the Pax Four Vaporizer has the OG Pax Labs design with a textured look and tweaked oven mechanics, the Pax Flow Vaporizer has a different structure. The chamber is side-mounted with an easier loading technique and cleaning method. Both devices have an ideal size and design for maximum portability.

Verdict

Though Pax Four is a bit smaller than the Pax Flow, the side-mounted design is a unique update to the overall usage mechanism. I would definitely prefer a Pax Flow over a Pax Four when considering the design.

Vapor Quality

The Pax Flow and Pax Four Vaporizers have hybrid heating mechanisms to ensure better purity and extraction. The higher airflow is a characteristic of both these models. However, these similarities in the heating and extraction system are not the only thing to consider while opting for the right device.

The Pax Four Vaporizer produces one of the densest vapors with 50% more volume when compared to the older models. The vapors are warmer due to the high volume and lower airflow than the Pax Flow Vaporizer. A Pax Four user is advised to make slower draws or use a water pipe to reduce the temperature. The smoothness is not as effective as I would have liked.

The Pax Flow Vaporizer also produces a thick stream of vapors, but the output is less concentrated due to higher airflow. The higher airflow and less vapor volume make the cooling mechanism more effective. The vapors are smoother and cooler, irrespective of the temperature you opt for.

Verdict

The Pax Four has a more visible output. If you prefer larger and warmer clouds, this vaporizer is the ideal choice. The Pax Flow is meant for smoother output that feels easier on your lungs. The output is compromised for comfort. The choice is subjective here, so I prefer Pax Flow.

Heating Performance and

The hybrid heating mechanism has been a highlight of the Pax Four and Pax Flow Vaporizer. However, the Pax Four has been a more power (conduction) oriented device when compared to the newer convection focused Pax Flow Vaporizer. The heating efficiency, along with the airflow, separates the models.

The Pax Four Vaporizer takes around 55 seconds to heat up to 0.3 grams of dry herbs. The heating time is considered moderate for a Pax Labs product. Its top-loading stainless steel chamber retains the original design from the previous models. Moreover, a less potent convection component means that the airflow is restricted to only 2.5 liters per minute. The vapor flow is more resistant when compared to its contemporary.

The Pax Flow Vaporizer is surprisingly more efficient when it comes to quicker vapor production, despite more reliance on the convection technology. It takes around 35 seconds to cook 0.35 grams of dry herbs. The heating time is faster, and the side-mounted stainless steel chamber is a welcome addition to the design. The air path is wider, allowing 6 times more airflow to pass through. The airflow can go up to 10 liters per minute, which is astounding for such a small device.

Verdict

I would definitely recommend Pax Flow because of its efficient heating component and more fluent airflow. The chamber is redesigned to make it more discreet. The unrestricted airflow and faster heating time make it the clear winner in this category.

Controls, Temperature Flexibility, and Features

The Pax Four and Pax Flow Vaporizers do not have a Bluetooth App feature. Both devices can be controlled using the on-device buttons and indicators. However, the only downfall is the absence of precise controls. Pax Labs has retained preset temperature intensities, so you must get along with the limited freedom to opt for your favorite temperature intensity in degrees.

The Pax Flow Vaporizer has a single-button control with motion gestures and four LED indicators to enable controlling the device easily when you are on the go. The control button takes a bit of time to get used to as it requires a long press for turning on & off and short presses for cycling the modes. The temperature controls are real-time and intuitive. The auto resume feature and haptic feedback make controlling a lot easier and fun.

The Pax Four Vaporizer also has a single-button control that cycles temperatures with a click. It is as simple as you can demand. The petal interface handles the preset modes with ease. It is super easy to understand due to single-button control and petal indicators, while the haptic feedback adds more convenience to the overall experience. The autocooling mechanism, powered by the accelerometer and lip sensing for effective draw control are value-adding feature. However, the Pax Four lacks the bong mode.

Verdict

The Pax Flow, with its additional bong mode and more intelligent temperature controls, has the upper hand over the Pax Four. The controlling mechanism is more or less the same.

Battery Life and Charging

The Pax Four Vaporizer has a 2800 mAh battery that provides you with a backup of up to 50 minutes per charging cycle. This battery life translates to around 5 to 8 sessions (depending on the temperature selected). The battery is internal, but it does have a USB-C charging port that refills it within 100 minutes. The passthrough technology enables you to smoke while the battery is charging.

The Pax Flow Vaporizer lags in battery capacity. The battery has a 2000 mAh capacity, which limits the battery life to 45 minutes or 4 to 6 sessions per charging cycle. The battery is internal and has a USB-C charging port. It recharges up to 100% within 40 minutes, which is as quick as it can get. However, the real downside of the charging features is the absence of passthrough technology.

Verdict

The Pax Four Vaporizer is a winner due to its more capable battery and longer battery life. Though it takes a longer time to recharge than the Pax Flow, the passthrough technology covers it up somehow.

Ease of Use

While both models are easy to use, with features that most users can get along with. The Pax Flow Vaporizer is easier to use due to its accessible side-mounted chamber and wider vapor path. Better accessibility enables you to clean the components conveniently. The loading routine is also less hectic. The wider path rarely clogs, allowing you to use the device with less frequent cleaning.

The Pax Four Vaporizer clogs often due to its narrower air path. The accessibility is poor as you have to reach out for the airpath. The loading mechanism is convenient, where the chamber is shaped like a funnel to direct every piece of dry herb inside.

Verdict

The Pax Flow Vaporizer is the winner due to its accessible chamber and vapor path. The less frequent cleaning routine makes your vaping routine more fun.

Price, Value, and Ownership Cost

The Pax Four Vaporizer is a newer and more affordable device, as it is available on the official website for $250. I recommend purchasing the Pax four only if you are running low on your budget and still want to purchase an efficient vaping device. On the other hand, you can buy the Pax Flow Vaporizer for $350. You get a lot more value-adding features for a $100 hike. The shorter heating time, wider vapor path, less frequent cleaning, different design, faster charging, and the bong mode are a few to list.
