DaVinci EQ Vs Mighty Plus

Storz & Bickel and DaVinci Tech have been considered as one of the most iconic rivals in the vaping fraternity. While Storz & Bickel relied on keeping its products heavy-duty, DaVinci Tech has continued to develop devices that complement waxes, extracts, and concentrates. The DaVinci EQ Vaporizer is the newest device introduced by the company. It has an entire bubbler integrated on top of its battery components.

However, is it better than the Mighty Plus Vaporizer? A device that most consider to be the improved version of the flagship Storz and Bickel device. As we put both the devices head-to-head in this article, we will understand if the DaVinci’s sophisticated filtration system is enough to hand it a win, or if the Mighty Plus Vaporizer’s raw power is too strong to overcome.

Design, Build Quality, and Portability

The Mighty Plus Vaporizer’s design is better than the original Mighty Vaporizer. It has a rugged outer that gives a heavy-duty look. The body is predominantly made of medically superior PEEK plastic, which is heat-resistant and does not emit any hazardous chemicals. The body components are UL certified to confirm that the plastic parts are safe to use.

The Mighty Plus Vaporizer is 5.5 inches tall and 1.2 inches flat. The dimensions, along with the 242 grams of weight, make it easier to hold. However, it is not as pocketable as other vaporizers meant for on-the-go usage. I like the patterns on the body for firmer grip and cooling fins for efficient heat dissipation.

The DaVinci EQ Vaporizer has a sandblast aluminum outer that looks sleek and stylish. The matte finish and absence of excessive patterns make it comfortable to hold but harder to grip. The aluminum build is durable, but the borosilicate bubbler and quartz heating element are comparatively fragile.

It is a chunkier product with 520 grams of weight. It is shorter than the Mighty Plus with 4.5 inches height but the depth is 2.2 inches. This device is not even a good handheld vaporizer, let alone being pocketable. It is a decent tabletop device.

Verdict

While both devices are durable and stylish in their own specific ways, the deciding factor is portability. If you want a portable vaporizer for on-the-go smoking, Mighty Plus is a better choice. The DaVinci EQ suits tabletop usage due to its bigger size.

Vapor Quality

The Mighty Plus Vaporizer has a premium vapor quality output due to its ceramic oven, which does not burn the dry herbs. The PEEK cooling unit on top of the heating chamber provides the vapors a longer route to reach your lips. The path is long enough to dissipate heat entirely. Despite great vapor quality, the result is not as soothing as the DaVinci EQ because it has no water filtration. The overall stream is thinner and more consistent throughout the session.

The DaVinci EQ Vaporizer delivers one of the most comfortable, cozy, and easy-on-the-lung vapors. All the components from the heating element to the airpath are made of quartz and glass. The absence of metallic and plastic intervention ensures consumer safety and preservation of taste. The 60ml Jacuzzi Bubbler soaks all the heat from the vapors and prevents them from becoming harsh & dry. The vapors are thicker than those of the Mighty Plus Vaporizer, but the output is not ideally consistent.

Verdict

The DaVinci EQ just gets an edge over the Mighty Plus Vaporizer with its water filtration system that cools efficiently and prevents dryness of vapors. The Mighty Plus Vaporizer is a decent portable device as well, but only if you want an on-the-go device.

Heating Performance and Air Resistance

The Mighty Plus Vaporizer is integrated with a ceramic oven that supports hybrid heating technology. The conduction heating maintains the fire power while the convection technology blows hot air through the chamber to maintain the airflow. The free-flow air ensures consistent receipt of vapors throughout the session without deliberation from the user.

Shifting the reliance from conduction to convection heating, the heating time stretches to as long as 60 minutes. Moreover, the heating element capacity is 0.3 grams for a fully packed dry herb chamber. The extraction process is gradual, but the airflow is very consistent.

The DaVinci EQ Vaporizer has a quartz cubicle powered by conduction technology to extract everything from your favorite wax. The flavor profile is optimal, but the 45-second heating time is not that efficient. The cubicle takes a while to heat up, but the extraction is great. It has a capacity of 0.1 grams, so you have to refill it often during a long smoking session.

The air resistance is comparatively higher than that of the Mighty Plus Vaporizer. The absence of convection heating means that you have to pull the vapors actively. You have to keep the draws deliberately slow to ensure the temperature remains consistent.

Verdict

Despite its slower heating time, the Mighty Plus Vaporizer is my favorite device due to its efficient heating system. The airflow is more fluent, and the output is consistent throughout the session.

Controls, Temperature Flexibility, and Features

The controls offered by the Mighty Plus Vaporizer are entirely physical but very convenient. The up and down buttons let you adjust the temperature intensities in the +1 increments. You can select your favorite temperature between 40 and 210 degrees Celsius.

The boost and superboost temperature modes let you increase the temperature in a flash. The device has no mobile app controllability, but the LCD screen is sufficient to show every relevant stat. It shuts down after two minutes of inactivity.

The DaVinci EQ Vaporizer provides you with maximum control, where you can select a precise temperature between 232 and 343 degrees Celsius. The colored touchscreen communicates every little detail, so you will not regret the unavailability of a mobile app. You can set your own heating curve with the smart path mode or adjust the session timer to your requirements. The haptic feedback also makes your life easy.

Verdict

The DaVinci EQ has superior controls and temperature settings. The temperature range is wider, the touch screen is prominent and premium, and the smart paths make the device more customizable.

Battery Life & Charging

A dual internal battery has been integrated inside the Mighty Plus Vaporizer, which has a total capacity of 6600 mAh. The battery is potent enough to last for 90 to 120 minutes (depending on the temperature settings). The running time translates to around 8 to 11 sessions per charging cycle.

The Mighty Plus Vaporizer has a USB-C charging port that supports passthrough technology. However, the real winner is the supercharging feature that refills 80% of the battery within 40 minutes.

The DaVinci EQ Vaporizer also has a dual battery component having an entire capacity of 6000 mAh. It provides enough backup to let you enjoy 50 sessions per charging cycle. The session duration is shorter than that of the Mighty Plus Vaporizer, so the total running time is around 60 to 90 minutes.

It lags behind the Mighty Plus in battery life. The charging system, despite having the USB-C port and passthrough technology, does not perform even close to what the Mighty Plus’ battery does. It has no supercharging feature and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours to recharge. The only good thing about the DaVinci EQ Vaporizer is that the battery is removable.

Verdict

The Mighty Plus Vaporizer is a clear winner when it comes to the power stats because it has a longer battery life and a supercharging feature. Having a removable battery is an advantage of having the DaVinci EQ Vaporizer. However, an extra battery will cost you some extra bucks.

Ease of Use

The Mighty Plus Vaporizer is a convenient device to use for daily vaping. You only need to twist the cooling unit off the heating chamber. Once opened, you can pack it loosely with dry herbs or use concentrate pads for extracts. It contains dosage capsules in the kit for ready-to-cook dry herb insertion.

The plastic parts, o-rings, and the cooling unit can be dipped in the alcohol solution for a deeper clean. You must scrape off the residue from the ceramic chamber to keep the vapors pure. The cooling unit and chamber are harder to clean when waxes or concentrates are used.

The DaVinci EQ requires you to remove, refill, and reseat the cubicle, so loading can be hectic at times. Moreover, all the glass and quartz components can be dipped in the alcohol solution. This means that the cleaning routine is simple.

Verdict

Both devices are easy to load and clean, but the Mighty Plus Vaporizer creates a lot of mess when used with the concentrate pads.

Price, Value, and Ownership Cost

The Mighty Plus Vaporizer is an extremely high-end on-the-go device that used to cost more than $450. However, the company has reduced the price to €318, which translates to approximately $373. Despite the discounts, the Mighty Plus Vaporizer takes a big chunk of cash from your budget.

The DaVinci EQ Vaporizer costs around $549 on the official website. It might seem expensive, but it is a desktop device with a superior battery backup and filtration system. It still costs you less than the Volcano Hybrid Vaporizer (a flagship desktop device from Storz & Bickel).

Mighty PlusDaVinci EQ
ProsPros
Precise temperature controls. The device is durable because it has no glass component. It has a supercharging feature that fills 80% of the battery in 40 minutes. The physical controls are simple. The hybrid heating system maintains a consistent airflow. Precise temperature controls. The body is aesthetically pleasing. The water filtration keeps the vapors pure and clean. The touchscreen is easy to use. It is an all-in-one e-rig to keep you independent of external bubblers and waterpipes.
ConsCons
The body is not as attractive. The vapors are often drier. Not the most ideal device for concentrates. The glass components are comparatively fragile. The battery takes longer to recharge. It cannot cook dry herbs.

Final Verdict

Selecting the right device between the DaVinci EQ and Mighty Plus Vaporizers is an easy thing to do. I like using the Storz & Bicycle devices for aromatherapy and dry herb smoking because their products are pathetic when it comes to concentrate usage. The Mighty Plus Vaporizer is not an exception to this rule.

The DaVinci EQ Vaporizer is a decent product for waxes and concentrates. DaVinci Tech is switching to the concentrate segment because the demand is increasing every day, and the vulnerability to burning is really low. However, it is a desktop device that is not meant for on-the-go usage.

As evident from our comparison, both devices add great value to your overall vaping experience. The only thing that you need to understand is your usage. A frequent traveler will want the Mighty Plus Vaporizer, but those who smoke in their room after a long day at work will find the DaVinci EQ Vaporizer more relevant.
